Overview

Janakpur tour is a mystical tour organized by Himalayan Social Journey to explore one of the religiously important temples in the eastern Terai of Nepal. Janakpur located 390 kilometers east of Kathmandu is one of the oldest and famous cities of Nepal.  In ancient times, Janakpur used to be a great center of learning for Scholars.  The famous Hindu philosophy namely Brihadarandyaka was written by hundreds of Sages collectively in Janakpuri. This is one of their oldest and famous work which presents the nature of Brahma, gods are written in the form of dialogue. Likewise, Janakpur is a very beautiful and interesting place therefore you can do a variety of things to do in Janakpur. 

Janakpur is mostly inhabited by Maithalis an ethnic group of Nepal who has their own unique language, customs, costumes, traditions, and culture. Similarly, Janaki Temple decorated with Mithila art and built in a mixed style of Islamic and Rajput domes is a very beautiful temple to visit. The temple is a three-storied temple decorated with colored glasses, engravings, and paintings with beautiful structured windows and towers. 

Every year, thousands of pilgrims visit the temple. Ram Navami being one of the celebrated festivals is the busiest time of the year to visit Janakpur. This festival is celebrated in Hilly as well as in the Terai region.
