List of Equipment You Need for Trekking in Nepal

If you are going on an adventure like hiking, trekking or camping, you need to keep your backpack really up to date. Bringing unnecessary things will only make your journey stressful and your bag heavier. So, keeping your backpack lighter is the mantra for an unforgettable trekking journey in Nepal.

Before packing your list of things, first and foremost important not to forget thing to do is to check the maximum altitude or elevation of your trekking trail. With the difficult geographical structure of Nepal, you would want yourself short of things that is most necessary for that particular trekking region.

For instance, you wouldn't want to pack or take gloves or hats that you usually take for hiking on your trekking journey to Everest region or Annapurna region. The things or equipment used for hiking sometime cannot be suitable for high elevation.

So, for the people who are still wondering or in confusion what to pack for trekking in Nepal, here we present you our checklist of equipment created by our professional and expert trekking guides.

General Necessary Equipment:

  • 70 liter duffel bag to keep trekking supplies
  • 5 liter day pack to keep personal stuff
  • Head lamp or torch light (with spare battery)
  • UV protection Sun glasses
  • First Aid box with basic medicines
  • Skin repair kit for blister
  • Band Aid and duct tapes
  • Sleeping bag
  • Water purification tablet
  • Trekking pole

For Head:

  • Synthetic or wool hat which covers ears and is warm
  • A scarf or piece of cloth
  • Sun hat or cap

For Upper Body:

  • 1 half sleeve and 2 long sleeved Shirt made of Polypropylene
  • Light Thermal tops
  • Water proof jacket
  • Pullover wind stopper jacket
  • Down jacket (if you are trekking in the winter, fall and spring season)

For hands:

  • Lightweight gloves or mittens

For Lower body:

  • A pair of hiking shorts
  • A pair of trousers for hiking
  • Underwear briefs

For feet:

  • Water resistant Boots for hiking having tough soles, ankle support and with lace
  • A pair of sandals
  • Woolen and thin lightweight socks
  • Knee supports (optional for the downhill portions of the trek)

Personal Essentials:

  • Sunscreen
  • Lip balm or Chap stick
  • Travel shower kit
  • Toilet papers and wet wipes
  • Hand sanitizer (very necessary)
  • A box of matchstick or lighter
  • Water bottles
  • Safety knife
  • Umbrella or raincoat/ poncho if you are traveling in monsoon season
  • Multi socket in case you have a lot of items to charge

Note** While hiking in the daytime you may wear shorts or thin pants and long sleeved shirt. And at evening since the temperature comparatively becomes cooler than the daytime, you may add adequate layer of clothes.
