Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Lhasa

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be warmly welcomed by our office representative. Look out for a placard with your name at the arrival area. Our representative will assist you with airport formalities and provide a smooth transfer to your hotel in the city. Once checked in, take some time to rest and recover from your journey. The rest of the day is free for you to relax at the hotel or explore the nearby surroundings at your own pace. Enjoy a peaceful evening in Kathmandu, soaking in the atmosphere of this culturally rich city.

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading out for a guided sightseeing tour to two of Kathmandu’s most revered spiritual sites—Pashupatinath Temple, a sacred Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Shiva, and Budhanilkantha, home to the remarkable reclining statue of Lord Vishnu. Later in the day, attend a comprehensive Kailash Yatra briefing, where all important travel details, preparations, and expectations for the journey ahead will be discussed.

Embark on a scenic half-day tour to Chandragiri Hills from your hotel in a private car or van. Enjoy a relaxing drive through the city’s vibrant landscapes before boarding the cable car to the hilltop. At the summit, take in breathtaking views of the Kathmandu Valley and Himalayan range, visit the sacred Bhaleshwar Temple, and explore peaceful nature trails. After your visit, return to your hotel with memories of serene moments and stunning panoramas. The tour offers flexible start times to accommodate your schedule, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

On this day, you board a flight to Lhasa—a land rich in spiritual heritage and breathtaking Himalayan beauty. Upon arrival in Tibet, you’ll be warmly received at the airport and begin your journey through the awe-inspiring Tibetan plateau. As you ascend to Lhasa, situated at an altitude of 3,656 meters, it's important to take it slow and allow your body to adjust. Once you reach your hotel, settle in, enjoy a nourishing meal, and relax for a restful night as you prepare for the days of spiritual exploration ahead.

After a hearty breakfast, your day begins with a visit to the iconic Potala Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site majestically perched atop a hill. Once the winter residence of the Dalai Lama, this architectural marvel offers stunning views and deep insights into Tibetan history and spirituality. Next, you’ll visit the sacred Jokhang Temple, one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in Tibet. To round off the day, enjoy a leisurely walk through the vibrant Barkhor Market, where the spiritual atmosphere blends seamlessly with local culture, prayer wheels spin, and the essence of Tibet comes alive.

Next, our journey continues to Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet and the historical capital of the Tsang province. It is also the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama, the second-highest spiritual authority in Tibetan Buddhism after the Dalai Lama. Early in the morning, you’ll visit the renowned Tashilhunpo Monastery, founded in 1447. During the excursion, you'll explore several important temples within the monastery complex, including the grand Maitreya Temple, dedicated to the future Buddha, along with other sacred shrines that hold deep spiritual and historical significance.

As you travel through a series of mountain passes and charming small towns, you'll be treated to spectacular views of pristine lakes and the vast Tibetan landscape. Though the drive is lengthy around 5-6 hours, the ever-changing scenery and cultural glimpses along the way make it a truly enriching experience. Upon arrival in Saga, you’ll have time to unwind and enjoy the comforting warmth of Tibetan hospitality.

After breakfast at the hotel in Saga, we drive to the sacred Lake Manasarovar. Upon arrival, we perform the Lake Parikrama (circumambulation) by government bus. The journey also includes a visit to the mystical Rakshas Tal (Lake Rakshak) and time to explore the spiritual beauty of Manasarovar Lake. Later, we check in at the Manasarovar Guest House for an overnight stay. You’ll have free time to explore the peaceful surroundings and capture memorable moments through photography.

In the morning, a bucket of warm water will be provided for your bath. After breakfast, we will organize a group Homa Pooja and Pitri Visarjan by the sacred Lake Manasarovar. Following the rituals and lunch at Manasarovar, we drive to Darchen, the base for Mount Kailash Parikrama, where you will check in and stay overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, we begin our journey to Yamadwar. Before heading there, we coordinate and confirm the arrangements for horses and helpers as per group requirements. Upon arrival at Yamadwar, we begin our trek toward Derapuk, following the trail that leads to the North Face of Mount Kailash. Along the way, we receive a sacred Darshan of the West Face. The walk continues through stunning landscapes until we reach Derapuk, the closest point to view the majestic North Face of Mount Kailash. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the guest house in Derapuk. 

NOTE: If you are not doing Parikrama, then you will be staying at Darchen 

After breakfast at the guest house, we begin the day’s trek early, as this is the longest and most challenging walk of the journey, taking place at the highest altitude. For those who choose not to continue to Dolma La Pass, arrangements will be made for a guide and support staff to assist with returning to Darchen.

Those continuing the Parikrama will trek alongside our experienced Nepali staff, crossing the sacred Dolma La Pass. Just beyond the pass lies the revered Gauri Kunda, where you may request our team to collect holy water (Jal) on your behalf. The descent then continues toward Zuthulphuk, where you will have dinner and an overnight stay at the guest house.

After breakfast, you will trek down approximately 10 km along a winding, gradual path. Once you reach a place called Chongdo, our transport will pick you up and drive back to Saga.

NOTE: Those who do not participate in the Parikrama will rejoin the group in Saga

After breakfast at the hotel in Saga, we drive along the blacktopped highway towards kerung. We proceed to the Nepal-Tibet border to complete exit formalities, then continue our journey with a lunch stop at Ghatekhola before driving onward to Kathmandu.

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer to Kathmandu Airport for your onward flight.
