“Tough start with the monsoon season causing flight cancellations but our guide, Mingmar Sherpa, handled a group of temperamental trekkers well. He was able to get us all to bond together almost immediately and help us out with EVERYTHING along the way (from altitude advice, translating questions, itinerary adjustments, helicopter evacs plus many more). He truly made the trek amazing. Of course the views were stunning to be expected but weather is always unpredictable so prepare for rain, sun and ice cold temperatures. Our entire group made it to EBC except one elusive Aussie who claimed he was sick early and disappeared on the group without communicating which did cause complications later. The only trouble with the company was the poor communication from the office side of things in the preplanning - we had to ask multiple times for internal flight details and pack lists only to get return emails apologising but not including the info either. Also the included entrance fees we were promised were not communicated to any of the guides and we had to pay double at times until we mentioned something. If it weren't for Mingmar then things wouldn't have been as great as they were. Thank you Mingmar for an absolutely amazing time!”
“The unpredictable mountain weather caused some flight cancellations but our guide, Mingmar Sherpa was amazing every step of the way. He was able to help us out with anything we needed along the way. He truly made the hiking experience! Our entire group made it to EBC! If it weren't for Mingmar Sherpa then things wouldn't have been as great as they were. Thank you Mingmar for an absolutely amazing trip and shout out to Parasam AKA Captain America for making sure our bags followed us up the entire way! If you book this trip make sure to ask for Mingmar Sherpa as a guide and Parasam to ensure you have as great of a time as we did!!”
“Our group of 13 has successfully trekked to Everest Base Camp. What turned this trip into a brilliant success was the awesomeness of our trekking guide, Mingmar Sherpa. Mingmar saw to all our needs. He was our group's guide, waiter, photographer, travel agent and so much more. Nothing was too much trouble and he handled unexpected changes to our itinerary because of weather, by organising alternative transport by helicopter. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mingmar Sherpa as a guide if you want someone trustworthy who is going to get you up and down the mountain safely. Thank you so much Mingmar. “We started out with a delay as the monsoon season was a bit later than usual but our guide Mingmar was able to organise a helicopter flight to Phakding where we started our hike. After a couple of days the rain cleared and we had amazing views of all the mountains in the area including Everest. Mingmar was always checking on us all to ensure we were doing OK and our group of 13 all made it to Basecamp. A big thank you to Mingmar Sherpa, Chokey and Parasam for making our trip memorable.”
“We have just finished our Everest Base Camp Trip with Himalayan Social Journey. We were a couple within a large group of 18 in total on our tour. We had two main guides with us- Bishnu and Tenzen. Our guide for our smaller group of 7 was Tenzen Sherpa and safe to say he made the trip for us. He was kind and caring throughout the trip and constantly was looking out for us- making sure we were all feeling okay as we went to higher altitude and making sure we had enough blankets at nighttime when we were higher up and it was cold at night! Tenzen’s English was impeccable and he was so easy to understand. His knowledge of the Himalayas was so impressive and never ending. I don’t think we can thank Tenzen enough for all he did for us on our trip. Himalayan Social are lucky to have him as a guide !”

Head guide Shankar's professionalism and care for our group of 11 trekkers was outstanding, and Kubir's infectious positivity was inspiring. Thanks to our guides we all made it to EBC and back and have had a truly amazing experience. HSJ are fortunate to have such committed people working for them.”
“My wife and I had an incredible time during our 16 day adventure trek to Everest base camp. Our two guides, Shankar Timalsina and Kubir Magar were fantastic and made sure we had everything we needed. I cannot say enough about these two people and especially the head guide Shankar. We miss them already. The scenery was amazing as was the Nepalese people. This is an unspoilt part of the world still. We would love to go back and complete another adventure as soon as we can. “This trek is definitely not for the “ unfit and untrained” .Both unfortunately which I was. However I completed the trek because of the excellent guidance and care provided Shankar and Kubir. I commend you guys for your patience , tolerance and positive attitude each step of the way. I will be forever grateful for Shankar for carrying my backpack when I struggled and kubir for providing that lovely smile and encouraging words when I ready to give up .You are an awesome team and we was blessed to have you guide us . “My husband and I just completed the EBC trek + Gokarna stay. If I was just rating the trek I would give it a 5/5. The main reason for this was our guides: Shankar Timalsina and Kubir Magar. Both these guides were excellent! They had a lot of care and a great attitude towards their group. They constantly checked in with us along the journey to make sure we were okay and with their extra support and care enabled every single member in our group was able to successfully make it to Base Camp. The 4/5 rating comes from the rest of our experience with the company. The trek and guides were awesome, however the recent Nepalese regulation changes meant we were not able to fly out of Kathmandu. This meant a pretty rough drive (anywhere between 3 and 8 hours depending on traffic) to Ramechhap where we stayed in a VERY basic hotel before flying to Lukla. Completely separate to the guides (they were awesome!) - there was a bit of confusion with our tour booked by HSJ, which resulted in half our group being charged for an extra night of accommodation and the other half not. This wasn't ever really resolved but the accomodation in Kathmandu is quite cheap anyway so we just ended up paying it.”
“This was an extremely well organised trek. We were provided heaps of information beforehand. The main guide, Mingmar Sherpa, made sure we achieved each day’s walking goals without rushing (he was BRILLIANT) and our group of 14 ALL reached Everest Base Camp. Unfortunately, after reaching the Camp I suffered badly from altitude sickness and had to be medevaced out. Mingmar and Himalaya Social Journey were brilliant in theIr organisation of this and the support to my family, who were obviously very worried, was outstanding. This was not just for the evac, but the follow-on care and treatment I received in Kathmandu. I would not hesitate to recommend this trek if you seek a challenge in a remarkable country and if you can, try to be on a trek with Mingmar Sherpa. YOU WON’T REGRET IT!!!!”
“I made it to Base camp!!!!😁👍 I have just finished the EBC trek with Himalaya social journey. This was my 2nd attempt at this trek, first time with this company and I cannot recommend them highly enough. It was an amazing experience. We were very lucky to have Mingmar Sherpa as our lead guide. He couldnt do enough to make sure our trek was the most enjoyable experience we could have. I always felt safe with Mingmar, he made sure we ate enough, rested enough and most importantly we went SLOWLY, SLOWLY!!!! Mingmar is an absolute aset to this company. Thank you also to the assistant guides PK and Kubir and our Yakman!!! They were very attentive especially at meal times!!! 😁 A huge thank you to Mingmar Sherpa for getting our entire team there and back safely!!!”
“Our trip to Everest Base Camp was spectacular but one of the hardest things we have ever done, however, I don’t think we would have made it to our destination if it wasn’t for our superb Guide Mingmar Sherpa and his dedicated team of assistants. Mingmar Sherpa was extremely knowledgeable & looked after the entire group as if we were family. Everyone in our group completed the trek to EBC! “My family and I tackled Everest Base Camp with Himalaya Social Journey. It was one of the most difficult but incredible experiences of our life. Our fantastic guide Mingmar Sherpa, with the help of PK and Kubir, made us feel comfortable and cared for. We would not have made it to our final destination without their outstanding help. I will never be able to express how much their knowledge, kindness and humour helped us to achieve such a difficult goal. My father had to be evacuated after reaching base camp because of altitude sickness and they made it as stress free and seamless as possible. We knew we were in very good hands. I could not recommended Mingmar as a guide and Himalaya Social Journey enough. They were such a huge reason for how fantastic our experience was.”

“When my family decided to do this trek to Everest Base Camp through Himalayan Social Journey, I admit I was apprehensive. It seemed an insurmountable task to me, and I was extremely nervous. But I shouldn't have been at all worried. Our lead guide, Mingmar Sherpa, was absolutely exceptional. Along with our other guides, PK, Kubir, Tanzin (and his hybrid yaks), Mingmar lead our whole group to victory and we all made it to Base Camp! Shortly after Base Camp, my dad had to be medevaced due to altitude sickness and Mingmar and his crew made sure the process was as stress free as possible. I cannot speak highly enough of Mingmar and his crew. Their dedication, kindness and humor provided constant motivation, and I am so proud of my family and I for what we achieved with their help.”

“My family and I have just completed a trek to Everest Base Camp with Himalayan Social Journey. It was the trip of our life - not only made so by the fabulous people in our group (Australians and Irish!) but by our head guide Mingmar Sherpa. His dedication to our success and well-being was extraordinary as was his knowledge and love of ‘his’ mountains. Every one of our group made it to Base Camp. Mingmar’s ‘team’ - PK, Kubir and Yak boss (Tanzi Sherpa) - helped us in every way possible every step of the way. “I recently completed my 2nd trip with HSJ and cannot paise them highly enough. My first trip was to EBC in 2017. There is something about the Himalaya's & Nepal that draws you back. Our guide Tikaram Nepali and our porters, Sagar, Hom & Barbarum are exellent ambassadors for HSJ & Nepal. They did an awesome job, looking after our every need and genuinely caring for each & everyone of us. Thank you each & everyone of you. The trip was a great success with 6 of us starting out as strangers it didn't take long for us to gel into a close knit group We had a lot of fun, laughs & a generally good time. Travelling in Nepal can be challenging, it helps to be open to new experiences without the comforts of home, but hey this is why we travel. I can confidently recommend Himalayan Social Journey for all your travel requiremnts in Nepal. PS: I am 72 and only moderatley fit. I would say trekking in Nepal is doable if you have a good sense of adventure and willing to push yourself a bit.”

“This trek was one of the most challenging and rewarding physical activities I have undertaken in my 67 years. The trek was a sensational experience. We were a group of fifteen sharing two guides - Shankar and Vishnu. Our guides were both outstanding. They were informative, interesting and caring with no request being too much. They went well beyond their role description in ensuring maximum satisfaction for all members of the group, whether experienced hikers or those needing additional encouragement and guidance.
