Bhairav Kunda Trek
Trip Highlights
Trip Overview
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in medieval and modernized Kathmandu, you will be warmly received by our representative and transported to the hotel. Upon check-in and some refreshments, our senior mountain guide will give you a quick briefing on the Bhairav Kunda Trek.
In Kathmandu, you visit the most renowned and revered shrine of the country: The most highly regarded and famous Hindu stupa of Nepal, Budhanath; and in Bhaktapur, the 15th-century 55-window palace; the Soyambhunath, which is the largest Buddhist stupa of Nepal and contains Buddhist and Hindu shrine. The orientation session for the trek, which begins on the following day, will be organized in the evening. Stay overnight at the hotel with breakfast included.
We'll go to Jalbire after having breakfast. The journey from Kathmandu to Jalbire is around 5 hours. The location for panoramic mountain views is Jalbire. It is the birthplace of the Hindu temple of God Bishnu, on the banks of the Balephi River, rich in Newari culture. We set up our tents for the night, including all meals.
Our trek will begin early in the morning after breakfast. We pass a waterfall and some small villages of Tamang to Chanaute. It takes approximately four hours. The village of Chanaute is home to people from the communities of Chhetri and Brahmin. All meals are given overnight in tented camps.
Our next trip is going to Khani Gaun after breakfast. Gaon is 5-6 hours away on foot from Chanaute-Khanai. The walk is a bit more difficult and steep. We will keep up steep climbs. But we can do a nice walk all along as we can see beautiful villages and rivers. Khani Gaun is a village in Newar and the Bhaktapur indigenous people are believed to have come to save their lives during the Gorkha and Bhaktapur war.
Today after breakfast, we visit Khani village and meet the local folks and explore around. Overnight in tented camps inclusive full board meals.
We will go uphill through the Rhododendron forest after having breakfast. The walk is about 6-7 hours. This is a perfect chance for you to catch the scenery of the rhododendron forest and also see lovely birds and plenty of wilderness.
The trek today is more difficult because it takes about 4 hours to climb up. But you can enjoy the magnificient view of the pine and Rhododendron trees. We will arrive in Pati after four hours of climbing and can relax in the other houses constructed for pilgrimages in Pati. You can enjoy a magnificent view of the mountains. Tented camps and bed and breakfast are included.
Bhairav Kunda is our next destination, about 3 hours walk from Pati. Next, after about 2 hours and a half, a 1-hour walk goes uphill. Bhairav is a coveted spot for faith. This place has been visited by many people from various parts of Nepal to bathe in June / July. The pilgrims also adorn the Bhairav in the temple near the lake (the destructive form of Lord Shiva).
We need to start our trek early so that the sunrise from Bhairav Kund top can be exciting. We can also get breathtaking views of the luminous mountain ranges Langtang, Jugal Himal, Rolwaling and Tibetan. In addition, the typical village of Sherpa Gaon is located at 2500 m from the top for about 6 hours.

The Bhairab Kunda Trekking is best for Spring (February, March, April, May) and Spring (October, November). Spring / monsoon trekking (June, July) is affected by the rain but summer trails can be an advantage for an enthusiastic botanist. The walking trails are crowded in the spring and autumn, but the routes are not packed in moon and winter and you can really enjoy the nature.

Traveler Reviews
"Best way to experience Nepal"
We did the 14 days Nepal budget tour and we could not be more happy with our choice. In only 2 weeks we visited Kathmandu, Chitwan national park, Pokhara and did a 5 day trek in the Annapurna region. The organization was flawless (like a swiss clock). We felt safe and welcomed in every place. Our guides Harka (Chitwan) and Ganesh (Pokhara and trek) + Bishal (our porter) did an outstanding job. We recommend them and the whole trip 100%. It was much better than we could have imagined. In the end, we recommand everyone to visit the beautiful places from Nepal and meet its warm and welcoming people.

Had an absolute amazing time. The Himalayas were beautiful, had blue skies and views everyday. Himalayan Social Journey and our guides Mingmar Sherpa and Rupesh went beyond our expectations. Definety helped us reach Everest Base Camp without any issues. Would definitely do another trek with them and would not use anyone else.
"Awesome Experience!!!"
Mingmar sherpa dai was our trek lead along-with Tenzing dai, Janak and Siddharth. All of them really helped us during entire the trek. Whether it is stay, food or assistance for any additional request. I would highly recommend them as trek leads if you are planning for the trek in and around Nepal. Specially EBC.
"Best Experience"
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing Trishuli rafting experience! I did this rafting in October 2024. Himalayan Social Journey made it safe, fun, and unforgettable. Thrilling rapids and stunning scenery combined for the perfect adventure. Highly recommend!
"Best Experience Of My Life!"
It was my first trekking experience in Nepal and Himalayan Social Journey made the entire experience memorable. They are very professional and will help you at every point. A special word of thanks to Sushma, who helped a lot throughout and was my go-to person. My guide Dinesh was a gem and so was the porter, Ramkrishna. Dinesh saved my life a few times (literally) and he is so efficient and helpful that it is hard to put in words. Want togo back to Nepal through HSJ, there is a lot more to do. If you are planning any activity in Nepal you may blindly book with HSJ and be assured of an experience of a lifetime. These guys are more than a tour planner, they are your friend. philosopher, guide all in one!
