Discovering Nepal’s Untouched Beauty: Ruby Valley Trek
Uncover the beauty of the Ruby Valley Trek: Experience pristine landscapes, encounter mystical lakes, explore hidden treasures, and embrace Nepalese rural life...
Ruby Valley, an untouched piece of nature residing between the majestic Langtang National Park and Manaslu Conservation Area, located not very far away from Kathmandu city, provides one of the best trekking experiences in Nepal. This yet-to-be-explored trekking route offers less touristy areas to experience authentic local culture, homestays, and interaction with locals residing in the region.
The Ruby Valley trail has mostly off-beaten paths accompanied by amazing vistas of gorgeous mountains like Annapurna Range, Manaslu Range, Ganesh Himal, Boudha Himal, Langtang Range, Everest Range, and many more. You can experience the beauty of nature, like raging rivers with suspension bridges, gorges, waterfalls, and stone-driven mills.
Here are a few expectations you can have about trekking in the Ruby Valley Region that will definitely be fulfilled:
1. Tranquil Seclusion: Few Crowds on the Ruby Valley Trek
The Ruby Valley Trek was started a decade ago, in June 2012, after much research and experiments by TAAN with the help of the Ganesh Tourism Development Committee. Though the trails and the destination are very beautiful, they are very rarely traveled by people. The development of this place has begun in recent years with small teahouses, well-mapped trails, and other amenities. Slowly, people are recognizing the place and are trekking, yet a very small number of people trek to this region, making the place very peaceful, serene, and soaked in nature.
2. Altitude Insights: Trekking Safely in the Ruby Valley
The maximum altitude that will be covered during the trek is 3850m. The altitude sickness in the mountains starts around the height of 4000 m, yet people can have mild symptoms between 6 and 12 hours after reaching 2650m and above. You may have a slight headache, be tired and lazy, lack of appetite, nausea and vomiting, dizziness, shortness of breath, and an uncomfortable feeling in the body, yet it is very unlikely to happen at the altitude of Ruby Valley.
If you face such types of symptoms during the trek, you have to stay and acclimatize for some time. Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated, take medicines if necessary, and get down to a lower altitude for safety.
3. Jewels of Nature: Lakes in the Heart of Ruby Valley
The Ruby Valley holds three serene and beautiful lakes: Kalo Kunda, Seto Kunda, and Ganesh Kunda, which originate from the raging Ankhu Khola. The surrounding area of these water bodies is also home to zinc and ruby mines. Kalo Kunda, or the Black Lake, is the crystal-clear water body that reflects the lush green surroundings. Seto Kunda, also known as White Lake, has a seasonal pasture around it where cattle are reared in the spring season, making the view awe-inspiring. These lakes not only hold natural beauty, but it is also believed that they have a mystical power. It is said that the magical powers of the lakes will bless the visitors, but those who misbehave with nature will be cursed with poor weather and travel difficulties during the trek.
4. Unveiling Hidden Marvels: Exploring Ruby Valley's Treasures
The entire valley is a hidden treasure of Nepal, but there are a few other features of this region that are even more valuable hidden treasures. The Ruby Valley region has many other destinations to trek in the region. Among them are the Pangsang La Pass Trek, the Singla Pass Trek, and Paldor Peak. These treks are a little more difficult in comparison to other treks in the region. These trips require proper camping gear and equipment with prior experience.
There is also a natural hot spring between Chalishgaon and Hindung village. You can go take a dip in the hot spring to relax and release the tiredness of the trek.
Not just natural treasures, but the region also hides cultural heritages and traditions in it. Ruby Valley offers an immersive and captivating cultural experience where you will come close to the rural life of the Nepalese and their cultures, traditions, beliefs, and values.
5. Rustic Retreats: Lodging and Cuisine Along the Ruby Valley Trek
As the region has been hyped recently, the development of the amenities is being done slowly. You can't find star-rated hotels and restaurants. But you can definitely find small teahouses and lodges that serve you homemade foods with the love and warmth of their hosts. You can also find primary health care in the region. We suggest you get your own toiletries for your comfort, and we also suggest that you not have very high expectations in terms of extra amenities, but we assure you that you will have the most memorable and authentic trip of your life.
